MASP, Lina Bo Bardi, Brazil

MASP is the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro. Built by the architect Lina Bo Bardi, this building floats above the ground level, creating a huge, open, public ground floor area for events, concerts and markets etc.

A large market buzzing underneath the museum.

A raving concert under the musuem!

In all of Lina’s drawings, she would make sure to illustrate the ‘life’ that existed (or that she imagined to exist) within and around the building that she was designing. The building becomes a ‘backdrop’ to the activity and people interacting with it.
